Celebrate the Job You Didn't Get

Everything happens for a reason, so celebrate things working out for the best.

THIN ENVELOPE, WIDE SMILE. So you didn't get the job. Phooey -- you probably would have hated it there, and if you invite your closest friends to say so all night, you'll start to believe it.

ANOTHER YOU. Everyone knows what they'd be doing in a perfect world. But how many people would you open up to about it? There's your guest list! Now, spill.

Around the World

GLOBE-TROT AT HOME! Invite your more adventurous friends over to try out an exotic cuisine. Have Vanity Fair® napkins on hand for a classic touch.

WORKADAY GETAWAY. Someday you'll take all your friends to Paris. While you're saving up, take them on a one-day fantasy trip with photos, a French movie, language tapes, and perhaps, a quiche.

Chain Letter Dinner

HAVE YOU HEARD? Send out three party e-invitations to your closest friends and ask to have it forwarded to others. See how far the chain can go and have a meet-n-greet party to calculate your success!

NO, REALLY. You can find hundreds of urban legends on the Web. Some of them are even true. Put a different one in each guest's invite and make people defend "their" stories to the group.

TV Season Premiere/Finale

A better reason to huddle around the boob tube.

VINTAGE TV! Gather around the tube for a marathon of your favorite classic shows on DVD. I'm thinking bean bag chairs, your favorite take-out or childhood foods, and soda pop.

BACK FOR MORE. Remember when all the shows started in October? Now there are "season" premieres all year long. Each one is a chance to pop some corn, turn off the ringer and race each other to the bathroom during the commercials.

Post-Exercise Brunch

NO SWEAT. Get the gang together for a group walk, jog, or yoga session, then celebrate your good health with a spa-style brunch. Make sure everything is healthy and nutritious, but of course delicious!

I START TOMORROW. Why exercise together when you can talk about exercising together? Throw a sinful brunch and spend it deciding what your group fitness goals are. Make a pact that you won't eat like that again until you reach them -- then reward yourselves when you do.
